Proofreading is a read through of your manuscript that specifically looks for grammar and spelling errors. It’s aim is to correct any final mistakes in your language.

At what stage should I consider proofreading?

Proofreading should be the final stage of editing before publication. This comes after developmental editing and line editing.

How much does proofreading cost?

Rates vary depending on the project. Generally speaking, I charge £4-5 (US$5-7) per 1,000 words. This includes a single read through of the manuscript.

Is proofreading worth the money?

A final proofread before publication is always worth the money as it aims to catch any final errors that may have slipped through when changes were being made. There’s nothing worse than spotting a typo in a published book!
